Noted fastener manufacturer ARP has come to the rescue of performance enthusiasts and racers who have struggled to replace harmonic damper bolts as a result of rounding the heads while turning the engine over by hand—most often when setting valve lash. ARP’s unique damper bolts feature a tall, larger-wrenching 12-point head, which facilitates turning the engine over with a deep socket to assure adequate contact and eliminate stripping. A ¼” thick wide area washer is included to help distribute the preload force. ARP harmonic damper bolt kits are available for virtually all popular import and domestic engines. Also available are special square-drive damper bolts designed to accommodate a ½” drive ratchet or breaker bar. For more info, contact ARP, 800.826.3045, www.arp-bolts.com.
