As a videocast geared towards motor heads of all kinds, the acquisition provides opportunity to expand the reach and behind-the-scenes content to all motorsports fans. Combining The Skinny’s broadcast reach on iHeart Radio along with the loyal subscriber and reader base of Drag Racing Edge will present some unparalleled opportunities to provide unique content to the entire motorsports community.
With Rico Elmore, Founder and CEO of Fatheadz Eyewear and well-known TV personality Ken Stout, at the helm, The Skinny and Drag Racing Edge is backed by long-time avid supporters of not just drag racing, but all motorsports. Additionally, veteran automotive journalist and racer Evan J. Smith has accepted the position of editor-in-chief at Drag Racing Edge. Smith, who competes in Stock and Super Stock and has worked as a factory drag racing test driver for Ford Motor Company, is passionate about the role of creating entertaining and newsworthy content for readers to consume on the printed pages, dragracingedge.com, along with the DRE Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels.
“I got my start in drag racing working at Raceway Park in New Jersey over 20 years ago and I’m lucky enough to have turned my hobby into a career, ” said Smith. “After college I started my publishing career at Muscle Mustangs & Fast Ford magazine and I continued there for two decades, where I reached the position of Content Director. Along the way I spent many weekends racing Division 1 NHRA with my Stock Eliminator 5.0L Mustang, and more recently with the Bongiovanni Racing team in a new Cobra Jet. Drag racing and journalism have consumed my life in the best way possible and I enjoy every aspect, whether I’m racing, shooting photography or writing a story. I’ve always wanted to work on a dedicated drag racing magazine, so I’m thrilled about the opportunity at Drag Racing Edge. I’m looking forward to working with my Drag Racing Edge teammates, Fatheadz Eyewear and The Skinny CEO Rico Elmore and well-known TV personality Ken Stout, who do “The Skinny” podcast and Brett Underwood on this project. Together, we plan to unleash all the adrenaline drag racing has to offer in print and on the web.”
