After missing the first two events of the season in 2020, then winning his first time out at Gainesville, Rickie Smith is eyeing back-to-back event titles at the Amalie Oil Gatornationals. This will be the season-opener for the NHRA Camping World series in Pro Modified.

Smith, 67, will be carrying sponsorship from Sokal Digital (https://www.gosokal.com) throughout this season as he looks to claim 17th win in NHRA Pro Modified at Gainesville to set the pace towards a fourth season champion in the class.

Starting the season behind the wheel of a 2020 Camaro with a 959-cubic inch engine on nitrous, Smith looks to switch to a new Jerry Bickel-built Camaro later this season. That car will run a smaller engine with a ProCharger centrifugal blower on alcohol, which will mark the first time he has raced with that engine combination. Richard Freeman of Elite Motorsports will be the builder of that engine.

A veteran of 46 years of racing, Smith has also won eight Pro Mod season titles in the IHRA and PDRA as well as an ADRL Battle of the Belts.
