Don Prudhomme has won the NHRA Winternationals four years in a row back in his heyday, while five guys have won that event three times in a row. Make that six now as “some guy” by the name of Steve Williams has dominated the event for the past three years.

Henderson, Nevada racer Justin Lamb wheeled his SS/AM 2010 Cobalt to a decisive win over second generation racer Tim Fletcher with a 0.005 light coupled with an 8.638 second ET on an 8.63 dial for an impressive .13 package. Fletcher in the other lane driving his dad’s Dan Fletcher’s GT/KA Camaro, had a great 0.016 light but broke out by 0.015 in the loss.

Southern California native Shane Westerfield finally wheeled his CP-Carrillo/Blake Bros. Racing Chevy Camaro to the winner’s circle at his home track, Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Consistent mid-5.4-second performances coupled with quick reaction times rose him above a field that included many championship contenders.
